Late on Sunday, MLB announced the winners of the 2024 Gold Glove awards.
Unsurprisingly, two members of the Cleveland Guardians went home as winners: second baseman Andrés Giménez and left fielder Steven Kwan.
By now, everyone knows they are the gold standard at their respective positions with a glove on their hands.
For each Guardians player it was his third consecutive Gold Glove award, joining a select group of elite fielders since the turn of the century.
“This makes 3 straight years Andrés Giménez and Steven Kwan have each won Gold Gloves. They’re the 5th pair of teammates since 2000 to win 3 straight awards: Andrés Giménez and Steven Kwan, @CleGuardians, 2022-24, Adam Jones and J.J. Hardy, Orioles, 2012-14, Brett Boone and Ichiro Suzuki, Mariners, 2002-04, Scott Rolen and Jim Edmonds, Cardinals, 2002-04, Andruw Jones and Greg Maddux, Braves, 2000-02,” MLB Stats posted on X.

Kwan bested Baltimore Orioles rookie Colton Cowser and New York Yankees’ Alex Verdugo on his way to this third consecutive award.
Basically, he has been the league’s best left fielder every year since he broke in the majors in 2022.
He missed significant time due to injuries and was still able to contribute 9 Defensive Runs Saved (DRS), +4 Outs Above Average (OAA) and nine outfield assists in 2024.
Giménez, on the other hand, is by far the league’s top defender at the keystone and it might not be even close, at least in the American League (Brice Turang is almost as good in the NL).
Giménez, the 2023 Platinum Glove winner, tied for the MLB lead with +20 OAA and topped AL second basemen with 20 DRS.
Shortstop Brayan Rocchio and third baseman Jose Ramirez were nominated at their position, but fell short.
