The Cleveland Guardians finished the 2024 Major League Baseball season as winners of the American League Central with a record of 92 wins and 69 losses.
After a postseason series win against the Detroit Tigers in the American League Division Series, the Guardians fell to the New York Yankees in the American League Championship Series.
The Guardians came one series short of appearing in the World Series, and they will now try to regroup this offseason for another shot at the title in 2025.
Off-seasons typically involve plenty of rumors of players signing with different teams, but the Guardians are looking ahead to possibly signing a catcher prospect in 2026.
According to Guardians Prospective on ‘X,’ the Guardians are the favorites to sign catcher prospect Sebastian Puche out of Zulia Venezuela.

Puche can be seen taking some swings and trains with Luis Romero.
The Guardians are the favorite to sign Puche when he becomes eligible in January of 2026 on International Signing Day.
With Bo Naylor and David Fry listed as the Guardians’ current catchers, Puche could potentially have some young catchers to learn from in the Guardians organization.
In 123 games for the Guardians in 2024, Naylor batted .201 with 13 home runs, 39 runs batted in, and a .614 on-base plus slugging percentage.
Puche will be a name to keep an eye on in the upcoming seasons to see if the Guardians can sign the prospect out of Venezuela.
The Guardians have not won a World Series since 1948, and they will look to take another shot at it in 2025 with their young and talented roster.
