The Cleveland Guardians’ offense has been more cold than hot this postseason, but one player who has done his job is leadoff hitter Steven Kwan, who has a .405 batting average through nine games.
Cleveland is on the brink of elimination after a devastating Game 4 loss to the New York Yankees, but Kwan set a franchise record in the process.
Elias Sports shared that Kwan has now reached base safely in 15 consecutive postseason games, which is a new Guardians franchise record.

Kwan has 15 hits and six walks in nine games this postseason and has done an excellent job setting the table for the team’s big bats in the heart of the order, but Josh Naylor, Jose Ramirez, Lane Thomas, and others have left plenty of meat on the bone at times.
The streak dates back to 2022 when Kwan had another exceptional series against the Yankees in the ALDS where he had nine hits and a walk in five games with just one strikeout.
Unfortunately, the offense overall that postseason underwhelmed and scored just 17 runs over seven games, and at times has done the same this year.
It’s tough to get excited about stats after another Emmanuel Clase collapse cost the team Game 4, but if the team has any chance of coming back in this series, it will need Kwan to keep cooking atop the order and setting the table for Ramirez and Naylor.
Both showed signs of life on Friday and combined for four hits and five RBIs, something the Guardians will need more of in Game 5 with Carlos Rodon on the hill.
