Emmanuel Clase had one of the most dominant seasons of any closer in the history of baseball this season by posting 47 saves with a 0.61 ERA by surrendering just five earned runs in 74.1 innings of work.
After his Game 3 ALCS meltdown, Clase has now surrendered more runs in the postseason than he did in all of the regular season, and the superstar closer sent a message after the game.
Clase posted an Instagram story of all of the awards he won this year along with his hand laced with gaudy rings with a caption saying that we’ll talk tomorrow…good night.

This post will surely rub a lot of fans the wrong way, especially after ducking postgame media availability after surrendering back-to-back home runs to Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton to blow the team’s 3-1 lead.
Clase collapsed in the ALDS against the Detroit Tigers as well and has now given up three home runs and six earned runs in the postseason after giving up just two home runs in the regular season.
It seems like no closer is safe this postseason and leads are getting squandered left and right, which also happened in the opposing dugout when Yankees closer Luke Weaver blew his first save all year after giving up Jhonkensy Noel’s massive game-tying 2-run homer with two outs in the ninth inning.
Clase likely intended to calm fans’ worries with his Instagram story and remind everyone it’s not the end of the world and he’ll be ready to go for the next game.
