They managed to get close at one point, but the Cleveland Guardians lost again on Tuesday.
They dropped Game 2 of the American League Championship Series 6-3 against the New York Yankees in the Bronx, and that puts them in a difficult spot: they are now 0-2 after dropping Game 1 and absolutely need to take Game 3 on Thursday if they want to have a chance to come back.
“FINAL: Yankees 6, Guardians 3. Aaron Judge homered for the first time this postseason, and perhaps the ugliest game we’ll see this October — filled with errors and baserunning blunders and walks — gives New York a 2-0 series lead. Teams up 2-0 in best-of-7 LCS are 32-5 all-time,” MLB insider Jeff Passan posted on X.

It’s hard to win when your starter, in this case Tanner Bibee, can’t make it out of the second inning.
Bibee, supposed to be the Guardians ace, pitched 1.1 frames and allowed five hits and three runs (two earned) on Tuesday night.
No bullpen, no matter how good and deep, can hold up while throwing six or seven innings per game.
Gerrit Cole wasn’t at his best, but was good enough to keep the Guardians at bay and hand it over to the Yankees bullpen.
It was a sloppy game for Cleveland, a sound defensive team that committed two miscues with the glove that wound up being costly.
To make matters worse, Aaron Judge woke up for the Yankees and hit his first homer of the postseason.
With the game 6-2 in favor of New York, Jose Ramirez hit his second and Cleveland hopes it can somehow spark a dormant offense with Game 3 in mind.
