Some days you go to the ballpark and you do nothing but enjoy a nice casual game with a hot dog and a beer without so much as a foul ball coming within 50 rows of where you’re sitting, and other days you have the opportunity to catch a history-altering grand slam that sends a stadium full of tens of thousands of people into absolute pandemonium.
This happened to a fan in attendance for Game 5 of the Cleveland Guardians ALDS matchup with the Detroit Tigers, and after catching Lane Thomas’ massive fifth-inning grand slam, he recently revealed what he did with the ball afterward.
MLB.com’s Daniel Kramer shared a photo from Game 5 with the fan who caught Thomas’ grand slam, and the fan was photographed with his cousin seated in a wheelchair who he has bonded with through a love for baseball and mutual recent heartache.
As Lane Thomas' grand slam today reached the bleachers, the man who caught it immediately handed it to another fan seated in a wheelchair.
The two are cousins, bonded through a love for baseball and who’ve leaned on each other through recent heartache.https://t.co/UQTl8QuxJ5

How can you not be romantic about baseball?
It’s the type of home run that many fans would get excited about due to the ability to sell on eBay for thousands of dollars, but this fan went the more sentimental route and solidified a lifetime memory with his cousin, which is something you can’t put a price on.
Thomas hit two homers and drove in nine runs in total during the ALDS, and this grand slam possibly saved the season as Tigers ace Tarik Skubal was cruising once again.
It will go down as one of the biggest moments in franchise history, and these two fans will surely remember it forever.
