The Cleveland Guardians moved ahead of the Detroit Tigers in the American League Division Series with a convincing 7-0 win on Saturday’s Game 1.
The offense showed up since the first inning with five unanswered runs, the bullpen was brilliant as always and starting pitcher Tanner Bibee tossed 4.2 scoreless frames to guide his team.
Bibee surrendered four hits and a walk, striking out six.
He was masterful all afternoon even though the length wasn’t really there.
Asked about his first postseason start, Bibee credited one particular Guardians pitcher for giving him pointers and helping him navigate certain aspects of playoff baseball.

Bieber, if you can recall, got off to a brilliant start this season with 12 scoreless frames and 20 strikeouts.
However, he then blew out his elbow and had to miss the entire season after that.
He was off to an incredible start and his loss was crushing and disappointing.
The team managed to overcome it, though.
But Bieber remains very much involved in the Guardians’ quest for the title.
As Bibee explained, Bieber has been his mentor ever since he made his MLB debut last season.
Considering the fact Bibee has accumulated a brilliant 3.25 ERA in his career in the regular season and is now sporting a perfect 0.00 mark after his first October outing, it’s fair to say Bieber has done a good job mentoring the kid.
Whatever advice he threw his way ahead of Saturday’s start worked to perfection.
