In this site, we have written about the Cleveland Guardians dominant bullpen time and time again.
It’s the backbone of the 2024 edition of the team, and the best bullpen in baseball without any question.
However, it’s important to point out and identify when league insiders talk about it, because opinions and takes outside of Cleveland should have a lot of weight.
In this particular case, MLB insider and former general manager Jim Bowden talked about Cleveland’s relief corps.
He had nothing but good things to say, but one of them particularly caught the attention of fans.
Bowden says the Guardians bullpen is ‘the best I have ever seen’.

“It’s just the best bullpen I’ve ever seen. In my entire lifetime. And I’m not a young chicken anymore, I was a GM for 16 years: I’ve never seen a bullpen this dominant. They lead after five, they win,” he said.
Bowden acknowledged that Cleveland’s starting pitching isn’t great, but ‘”they win with the bullpen, and they are going to have that quick hook”.
The Guardians have baseball’s most consistent closer in Emmanuel Clase.
They also have bat-missing weapons for late-inning duties, such as Cade Smith, Hunter Gaddis, Tim Herrin and the recently promoted Andrew Walters.
Pedro Avila and Erik Sabrowski are also nice options, and there is more help on the way in the minors.
If the Guardians jump off to a quick lead in the postseason, they could close it out in the fifth or sixth inning if they wanted it.
The unit is so deep and talented that it might be the best in decades, as Bowden states.
