The Cleveland Guardians will play a pivotal four-game series against the Minnesota Twins, starting with a doubleheader on Friday.
To prepare for the busy weekend, the team made a series of roster moves.
They called up outfielder Will Brennan and starting pitcher Joey Cantillo, who will take the ball for the first game of Friday’s doubleheader.
They also recalled Peter Strzelecki from Triple-A Columbus, and optioned utilityman Angel Martinez there.
They also sent a member of their rotation to the 15-day injured list, which is less than ideal.
“Guardians placed Carlos Carrasco on 15-day IL with a left hip strain,” Cleveland sports reporter Tom Withers tweeted.

Part of the reason why Cleveland needed to add multiple arms to their rotation ahead of the deadline was because they didn’t have much depth: an injury could derail many of their plans and, potentially, their season.
Well, Tanner Bibee went down already, even if it seems minor and he should return in a few days.
Now, it’s Carrasco the one getting injured, and in his case, he will be visiting the 15-day list.
The Guardians had to do something with Carrasco, whose ERA went up all the way to 5.64 and his record dropped to 3-10 after a loss to Arizona on Wednesday.
The right-hander allowed four or more runs in three of his last four outings, with two of them conceding six runs.
He could be kept around for depth if he makes it back healthy soon, but the Guardians have lost another arm and their rotation depth is getting thinner.
