The 2024 MLB Draft starts on Sunday and the Cleveland Guardians, who have the No. 1 pick, are licking their chops.
There are plenty of talented players who could be options at that No. 1 spot, including second baseman Travis Bazzana and pitchers Chase Burns and Hagen Smith.
However, there is another name who is gaining some steam ahead of the Draft: infielder/outfielder Charlie Condon.
Condon, who is capable of playing both infield corners and also some right field, would fit in any team because he hits for power consistently.
If you have followed recent Guardians seasons, you know power doesn’t always come by easily for them.
The offense has been better than expected in 2024, but there is absolutely no harm in bringing in a power bat like Condon’s.
That’s what Chris McNeil of The BIGPLAY Cleveland Show thinks.

Condon put up some incredibly impressive numbers in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) this year with the Georgia Bulldogs.
He hit .433/.556/1.009 with 37 home runs and a 1.565 OPS (!) in just 60 games.
Those are videogame numbers, to put it simply.
Condon is fairly polished and shouldn’t need too many years to be ready for The Show.
In fact, if he is drafted, there is a chance he could be ready late next year.
He could make a big impact in Cleveland, but so far, Bazzana should be viewed as the favorite to be taken by Cleveland with their premium pick.
Still, if what they want is sheer power, Condon is a logical choice.
Either way, it’s hard to go wrong with any pick.
The Guardians have a unique chance to add some premium talent to their already strong farm on Sunday.
