The Cleveland Guardians made a couple of roster moves on Wednesday morning.
After just a single rehab game in Triple-A Columbus on Tuesday, the team decided to bring back outfielder Will Brennan from the injured list.
He had been there since June 27 (retroactive to June 25) with rib cage inflammation.
Brennan, without being spectacular, had been one of the most consistent performers on the Guardians in the first couple of months.
His absence forced the team to rely on young, minor league talent more than they would have preferred.
Thankfully for the organization, the most recent group of prospects that has gotten a chance has been very talented: Daniel Schneemann, Jhonkensy Noel, Angel Martinez, and others.
The depth chart will become a bit of a mess now that Brennan has been activated from the injured list:
“Gabriel Arias to AAA. Will Brennan back from IL,” Guardians insider Zack Meisel tweeted.

Arias has been a major disappointment so far.
Defensively, he is capable of covering multiple positions but his bat has left a lot to be desired.
In 153 at-bats, he has hit .222/.255/.353 with a .608 OPS.
That won’t cut it in Cleveland.
Brennan, on the other side, had hit a solid .256/.314/.415 with seven doubles, eight home runs and a .730 OPS.
Steven Kwan’s playing time won’t diminish, but Martinez, Noel and Schneeman’s might now that Brennan is back.
The Guards might implement some kind of rotation in which all of them, plus shortstop Brayan Rocchio and occasionally second baseman Andres Gimenez play most of the time and rest a day or two per week depending on the case.
In any case, Brennan’s return is good news for the Guardians lineup.
