The Cleveland Guardians just finished a highly successful six-game homestand from July 2-7.
They earned four victories and two series wins, against the Chicago White Sox and the San Francisco Giants.
The team is hitting the road again, but let’s stop for a minute to review some attendance numbers brought to us by a Guardians executive, Senior Vice President of Public Affairs Bob DiBiasio.
“THANK YOU GUARDS FANS! 197,071 fans enjoyed recent 6G homestand – most since 6G set 5/23-28, 2008; 104,861 3G SFG weekend most since Philly weekend last season; attendance to date- 1,027,067 (41G) earliest to cross one million mark since 2008 (1,030,980 41G),” he tweeted.

Let’s dissect those numbers one by one.
A total of 197,071 fans went to Progressive Field for the six-game homestand, to enjoy a legit first-place team playing like one.
That’s the most fans in a six-game homestand since May 2008, a year after the Guardians made it to the American League Championship Series.
That year, they had exciting players such as Grady Sizemore, CC Sabathia, Cliff Lee, Travis Hafner, Shin-Soo Choo, and Victor Martinez, among others.
Their three-game weekend series against the Giants yielded the most fans since they hosted the Philadelphia Phillies from July 21-23.
The Guards just crossed the one million fans threshold this past weekend, the quickest they have reached that point since that 2008 campaign.
It’s fair to say people are excited to watch the Guardians and are currently enjoying what it’s like to play like a postseason-caliber team.
There is still a lot to achieve and accomplish in the upcoming weeks and months: the Guardians are just getting started.
