The Cleveland Guardians won again on Tuesday.
They beat the Baltimore Orioles again, this time in a slugfest that ended 10-8 in favor of the Guards.
It’s Cleveland’s seventh win in a row: they are officially the hottest team in baseball.
Not only that: in spite of what many power rankings might say, the Guardians are the best team in the league at the moment.
They even have, as of Wednesday afternoon, the best record in the league to prove it.
“The Cleveland Guardians have the best record in baseball,” Guardians insider Zack Meisel tweeted after they beat the O’s for the second consecutive night.

Not even the most optimistic Guardians fan imagined they would have MLB’s best record in late June, considering the disaster that was the 2023 season for Cleveland.
Competitive? Yes.
AL Central leaders? Why not.
Now, the best team in MLB? That one was unexpected.
But if history has taught us anything is that president of baseball operations Chris Antonetti will use his resources in creative ways to put the best possible team on the field.
That’s what he has done in 2024, unearthing some gems and even improving existing talent.
As of Wednesday, the New York Yankees and the Philadelphia Phillies, both with 52, have more wins than the Guards.
Since no team in baseball has lost fewer games than Cleveland’s 26, that puts their winning percentage at .662, tops in the league.
The Guards will go for the sweep of the mighty O’s on Wednesday, with Carlos Carrasco facing young phenom Grayson Rodriguez.
