The Guardians have now won three in a row on the heels of a tough stretch that saw the team lose four out of five games for just the third time this year, and it has been a pivotal stretch that has seen the offense get going to the tune of scoring at least five runs in five consecutive games.
The team will look to keep the momentum going over the weekend with two more games against the Toronto Blue Jays after last night’s 7-1 win which featured an impressive 7-run second inning and a much-needed strong start from Carlos Carrasco.
The second inning was all the team needed to get into the win column, and in the frame, the Guardians had just one extra-base hit but were helped by five walks and an error.

Not even seeing the most pitches in an inning in 10 years warrants an exclamation point? Tough crowd 😭

Cleveland put up seven runs in the game while collecting only five hits, but the most important outcome of the game was Carrasco’s six innings and one run given up, which represented just his third quality start of the year, all of which have come in his last seven starts.
Carrasco’s spot in the rotation is unsafe with Gavin Williams returning soon, so it’s great to see him put up a fight to hold onto his spot.
Cleveland is now fifth in the league in runs and sixth in ERA, which is a recipe for a pretty great team.
