The Cleveland Guardians beat the Seattle Mariners 6-3 on Thursday afternoon to take the series against the AL West leaders and take their record to a phenomenal 46-26.
The underrated Guardians offense was able to beat the M’s best pitcher, Luis Castillo, en route to the important win.
Logan Allen was solid from the mound and contributed a quality start, staying on the mound for six innings and allowing three runs.
The Guardians found themselves down in the score twice, after the first and fourth innings.
However, the Mariners couldn’t put them away and were unable to dominate a sneaky contributor on Cleveland’s team this year: Will Brennan.
Enjoying semi-regular playing time since the start of the year, Brennan isn’t having a spectacular year by any means.
He entered Thursday’s game hitting .244/.300/.378 with a .678 OPS.
But he went yard twice against Seattle and added a double for good measure, as the league’s official Twitter account added:

After the two homers, Brennan’s stat line improved considerably.
It’s amazing the difference a game makes: he is not slashing a much better .254/.308/.421, and he is capable of much more.
Brennan knows there is a lot of talent in the Guardians organization when it comes to the outfield position, so he needs to produce to keep playing.
On Thursday, he virtually won the game for Cleveland with the ten total bases he logged.
He homered in the second inning to tie the game and in the eighth frame to make it a three-run game.
Guardians fans, not to mention manager Stephen Vogt, will gladly take the power outburst.
