It’s Father’s Day, and dads everywhere are celebrating by being off of work and spending time with their families, hopefully taking trips to the ballpark to take in a game or simply watching baseball together on the couch.
One of those lucky dads is Cleveland Guardians superstar Jose Ramirez, who was placed on the paternity list after he left the team on Friday to be there with his wife for the birth of their third child.
Ramirez’s absence shouldn’t last too long, as today’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays is projected to be his second and final game missed via the paternity list, and the team plans on having him back for its 6-game homestand beginning Tuesday against the Seattle Mariners.

The scheduling worked out, as the Guardians are off on Monday, giving Ramirez all the time he needs to be there with his family as they welcome a new addition to the family.
Ramirez is off to a stellar start and has led this team to a 44-24 record out of the gate, posting a .269 batting average with 18 homers and 62 RBIs.
Ramirez’s roster spot has been taken for the time being by minor-league outfielder Johnathan Rodriguez, who was called up from AAA after winning MiLB’s International League Player of the Week award for June 3rd-9th.
The Guardian’s slugger should be back in the lineup on Tuesday with the new dad energy that should carry him through the rest of the season, and the team will have to find a way to take the series in Toronto on Sunday without him.
Hopefully, they can get him a win for Father’s Day.
