This Cleveland Guardians team continues to play great baseball and is now only two wins away from making it to the World Series. It hasn’t been an easy road, but this team has a real shot at getting back to the promised land for the first time since 2016. The Guardians are up 2-1 over the Tampa Bay Rays after a big win on Thursday afternoon.
Analyst Ken Carman recently talked about what makes this Guardians team so special and how they’ve been able to go on this incredible run.
“They kept the faith within themselves, and now you’re two wins away from going back to the World Series. This is one hell of a run by this organization. From top down, the front office, the manager, who is certainly more involved than other managers in Major League Baseball, and obviously the roster playing to the level that it’s played in and getting hot at the time it’s got hot, I think there’s credit that’s deserved all the way around. I understand that there’s not anything that’s really been accomplished yet, but yesterday was such a big win,” Carman said.

This Guardians’ team feels different than in years past. This team is getting help from everyone on the roster, and that’s what championship-caliber teams do. For example, rookie Petey Halpin came up with a huge hit during Game 3. The rookie blasted a go-ahead two-run home run that helped give the Guardians a huge win.
It’s a lot easier to win when everyone is contributing on the roster. It takes the pressure off the big-name players, such as Jose Ramirez, to be “the guy” in the lineup. It’s more than just the players, though the manager, coaches, and front office have done an excellent job as well. This team is running as a well-oiled machine right now, which is something that doesn’t always happen in Cleveland.
Sometimes, the best teams during the regular season aren’t the ones that end up winning the World Series. It’s about getting hot at the right time, and that’s exactly what this Guardians team is doing right now.
