Parker Messick has spent most of the 2026 season letting his left arm do the talking. On Saturday night, he let his feet take over. After the Cleveland Guardians beat the Royals 11-5 and the White Sox fell to the Rockies to hand Cleveland its third straight AL Central title, the visiting clubhouse at Kauffman Stadium turned into a full blown party. Plastic sheets covered the lockers, the beer was flowing, and the rookie found himself right in the middle of one of the best moments of the night. Wearing a fresh championship shirt and cap, Messick broke out a dance that quickly made the rounds on social media, and summed up the energy of the celebration perfectly.

The clip only lasts a few seconds, but it did not take long for Guardians fans to latch onto it. After months of watching Messick carve up lineups with a calm, businesslike approach, seeing him cut loose in the clubhouse gave fans a look at the personality behind one of the best rookie seasons in baseball.
And make no mistake, he earned the right to celebrate. Messick enters Sunday with a 12-9 record and a 2.55 ERA, numbers that have made him one of the most dependable arms on a staff that needed stability all year. He set the tone early, coming within three outs of a no hitter against the Orioles in April before Baltimore broke it up in the ninth inning. By the summer, he had pitched his way onto the American League All-Star team, and he and Travis Bazzana became the first pair of rookies selected to the game in franchise history.
The path to this point has been a steady one. Messick was the 2021 ACC Pitcher of the Year at Florida State before Cleveland took him with the 54th overall pick in the 2022 draft. He made his big league debut on Aug. 20, 2025, made a handful of appearances down the stretch last season, and then opened this year in the rotation. Less than two years later, he is a division champion and a big reason the Guardians are heading into October with a first-round bye.
The celebration will not last long. Messick is scheduled to take the ball in Sunday’s regular season finale against the Royals, and after that, the focus shifts to the American League Division Series. Cleveland will open that series on Oct. 3 at Progressive Field, and a 25 year old left hander who has handled every challenge thrown at him this season figures to play a major role in how far this team goes.
