The Cleveland Guardians are on fire, piling up victories left and right.
They won again on Monday, and have reached a 31-17 record that is comfortably the best in the AL Central division.
Injuries, however, have affected them considerably.
They are currently without Gavin Williams and Shane Bieber: the former will return in short order, but the latter has been lost for the season with an elbow injury that required the Tommy John procedure.
Now, another member of the starting rotation has hit the injured list.
“#Guardians transactions RHP Xzavion Curry promoted from Columbus RHP Carlos Carrasco placed on the IL (acute neck spasms),” Guardians Prospective tweeted.

Carrasco might have a 5.16 ERA for the season, but has been a steady veteran presence and a positive clubhouse influence for the team.
In addition to that, he had been pitching really well in his last three starts, with a 3.00 ERA in 18 innings of work.
You could say he was starting to settle in and contribute solid performances for Cleveland, before the unfortunate injury.
There is no word about how long he could be out, but it doesn’t sound like something that will require much longer than the minimum stay.
In the meantime, the Guardians are calling up an old friend, one that helped the 2023 team a lot: Xzavion Curry.
Once everyone is fully healthy, there could be a really interesting three-way battle for the Guards’ last rotation spot between Williams, Curry, and Carrasco.
Even with all the injuries, Cleveland has managed to put together some really impressive pitching depth to withstand casualties like Carrasco.
