The Guardians continue pushing their next wave of young talent up the organizational ladder, and one of the more notable names in the system just took a significant step forward. Outfielder Jace LaViolette, Cleveland’s first-round selection out of Texas A&M in the 2025 draft, has been promoted to Double-A Akron after a productive first full professional season split at the lower levels of the farm system. The move places the 22-year-old one step closer to the majors and gives the organization another look at how his power packed college production is translating against more advanced competition.

The numbers behind the move paint a promising picture. LaViolette spent this season with High A Lake County, where he posted a .797 OPS across 82 games, hitting 18 home runs with 67 RBIs while also drawing 47 walks against 145 strikeouts. Those power numbers echo the kind of production that made him a first round pick out of college in the first place, where he combined for a 1.175 OPS with 29 home runs during his junior season at Texas A&M. At six foot six, LaViolette brings a physical, left handed power bat that fits the profile of the kind of impact hitter Cleveland’s lineup has lacked at points this season.
The strikeout rate remains the clearest area to watch as he moves up a level, something evaluators will track closely as pitching quality sharpens in Double A. Still, a jump this quickly through the system in his first full professional season reflects real confidence from the organization in his overall tools and approach at the plate.
For a Guardians farm system that has already produced immediate contributors like Angel Genao and Parker Messick this season, LaViolette’s promotion adds another name to the pipeline fans will be watching closely. If his power continues translating the way it has so far, he could be positioned to join Cleveland’s next wave of homegrown talent sooner rather than later.
