Insider Makes Eye-Opening Statement About Guardians’ Roster

The Cleveland Guardians are coming off a sorely-needed series win over the Cincinnati Reds and now head back home to welcome the Arizona Diamondbacks for the weekend in hopes of getting the offense back on track. Cleveland had lost six of the last seven games prior to Wednesday night’s victory and need to get hot to keep pace in the AL Central with the Chicago White Sox and Minnesota Twins.

The offense has had some painful dry spells over the past few years even though the farm system has produced some outstanding young talents this season. As exciting as Travis Bazzana and Chase DeLauter’s emergence has been, it’s clear the team still needs a lot more, which is what one noted insider recently claimed.

Zack Meisel of The Athletic recently wrote about how Cleveland’s problems are all self-inflicted. In his last article, he said that the team needs to stop kicking the can down the road and get aggressive instead of just overly relying on prospects and Jose Ramirez to bail them out.

“At some point, you have to build toward something, instead of eternally kicking the can down the road. There’s a nucleus in place. José Ramírez is approaching his 34th birthday, but he’s tethered to the organization for another six-plus seasons. Bazzana and DeLauter seem like core pieces. Ralphy Velazquez and Angel Genao are next in line, consensus top prospects. But the Guardians very clearly need more,” Meisel wrote.

With the trade deadline just days away, this is another public cry for the Guardians to do something. The offense’s issues are the main reason why the last two playoff runs fell short of the ultimate goal, and with the American League as wide open as it has ever been and with a potential lockout looming in 2027, there is no better time for the Guardians to make a big push.

They have the prospects to make a big splash and they have more than enough room financially to add to the payroll. The time is now for the front office to make it happen because as long as manager Stephen Vogt has to keep rolling out lineups with over-the-hill vets and unproven prospects, this team will inevitably fall short once again in October.

They owe it to Jose Ramirez and they owe it to the fans to go for it. We’ll see in the coming days if anything actually happens.
