The Cleveland Guardians were shut out by the Los Angeles Angels on Friday, in one of their worst and most unexpected losses of the season.
Everybody can lose a game, but it was shocking to see the Angels, one of the worst teams in the American League, blank and dominate the Guards like they did on Friday.
Before Friday’s games, MLB Network published a short list with four names: Tanner Bibee, Shota Imanaga, Freddy Peralta, and Ranger Suarez.
What do they have in common?
Well, we must say had, because Bibee is unfortunately no longer a part of that group: their teams hadn’t lost in any of their starts.
“Pitchers whose teams are undefeated in their starts this year (min. 6 GS): – Tanner Bibee – Shota Imanaga – Freddy Peralta – Ranger Suárez,” they tweeted.

On Friday, Bibee allowed six runs in five innings to drop his first decision of the year.
He conceded eight hits and walked one batter, striking out four.
He was evidently not at his best and saw his ERA rise all the way to 4.46.
The long ball was a problem, as he conceded home runs to Nolan Schanuel and Mickey Moniak.
It was his first truly bad start of the year, so he obviously gets a pass: these things can happen even to the best pitchers in the game.
The Guardians do need him to bounce back strong next week when he takes the ball again, though.
He remains a big part of the Guardians’ 2024 campaign and their future, too.
