The Cleveland Guardians announced this week that they will be honoring CC Sabathia on August 3 in front of a packed Progressive Field.
The honor in question is an induction to the Guardians Hall of Fame, a recognition to his contributions since he was a prospect in the late-1990s and early-2000s until he was traded to Milwaukee in 2008.
Sabathia was part of a bridge between the formidable late-1990s Guards and the solid 2010s unit, and he became one of the best and most durable left-handers in baseball back then.
The pitcher went to Twitter to thank the Guardians for such an incredible honor.
“Grateful beyond words. Thank you Cleveland – the organization, fans, staff, coaches, players, and everyone who has played a part in my journey. Honored to join the @CleGuardians HOF,” he wrote.

He quoted a video from the Guardians from their announcement of the news, a compilation of some of his finest moments with Cleveland.
Sabathia became a major leaguer in 2001 and he matured into an ace with the Guardians.
He went from a pitcher with iffy control to a command artist in a span of a few years.
He won the AL Cy Young award in 2007 over Josh Beckett, and was traded at his peak to the Milwaukee Brewers in a transaction that netted the Guardians, among others, Michael Brantley.
The southpaw won 106 games with a Guardians uniform on and went to three All-Star Games.
He was one of the top pitchers of the 2000s, and he spent the majority of that decade in Cleveland.
The recognition is very much deserved.
