Nearly a month of the 2024 MLB season is already in the books.
Perhaps the biggest surprise of the year so far has been the Cleveland Guardians.
After a 76-86 season last year, many people doubted these Guardians, especially without Terry Francona in the dugout.
Not only they have been competitive, but they have been the best team in baseball to this date and are off to a historic start.
“Yes, I thought the #Guardians could compete in a wide-open Central Division and flirt with the MLB Playoffs. A scalding-hot, historic 17-6 start has changed expectations around Cleveland a bit. Credit to Vogt, his staff, the front office and ultimately, the players. Fun,” sports anchor Nick Camino tweeted.

Camino is talking about an important change in the Guardians’ season given the circumstances: expectations.
They were relatively low after the 2023 campaign and after their discrete offseason.
Now, even after losing Shane Bieber to a season-ending injury, much more is expected from Cleveland.
The best part is that there might be enough weapons in the organization to keep on fighting for the entire year.
Jose Ramirez hasn’t shown the best of his game, Gavin Williams is out, a couple of relievers should be back eventually, and there are enough impact prospects in the minors to feed the MLB roster at some point: Kyle Manzardo and Chase DeLauter, for example, should be up later in the year and are good enough to be stars.
There is a lot to like in Cleveland, and 2024 could be very interesting.
For now, they are going game by game and it’s working.
