It took him 14 starts, but Tanner Bibee’s winless streak to open the 2026 campaign is finally over. The right-hander was dominant from start to finish and gave the Cleveland Guardians a rock-solid outing that included eight scoreless innings to beat the Texas Rangers 6-0 on Saturday night at Globe Life Field.
With the victory, the Guardians tied the weekend series, and their record is now 37-29. They are still the gold standard in the AL Central.

Bibee incessantly and relentlessly attacked the strike zone all night, completing eight frames and surrendering just three hits and two walks. He fanned just three, but kept the home team off balance all game and tossed just 87 pitches, 54 of them for strikes.
Bibee is now 1-7 on the season, and lowered his ERA to 4.09 with the brilliant outing. He may lack a big fastball, but when his command is on, he is capable of big things on the mound.
The Guardians’ offense did just enough to back Bibee in this one. The red-hot Jose Ramirez belted a solo homer in the fourth inning against Rangers’ starter Jack Leiter to give Cleveland a 1-0 lead.

The fifth frame was the most productive one for the Guardians, though, as they scored four more runs. With one out, Brayan Rocchio went yard and put the game 2-0.
Travis Bazzana popped out, but Ramirez went to work behind him. He walked, stole his 23rd base of the year, and advanced to third on a throwing error by catcher Kyle Higashioka. Chase DeLauter drove him in with a single.
Then, a Kyle Manzardo double brought DeLauter home with the Guardians’ fourth run of the evening, and Daniel Schneemann kept the party going with an RBI single of his own.
In the eighth, Steven Kwan scored on a fielder’s choice. It was 6-0 Cleveland, and the big lead gave Bibee enough cushion to attack hitters with confidence.
Tim Herrin pitched a scoreless ninth to complete the pitching masterpiece for the Guardians. With his long outing, Bibee gave the bullpen some much-needed rest.
The Guardians will go for the series win on Sunday afternoon, when Joey Cantillo faces future Hall of Fame candidate Jacob deGrom starting at 2:35 pm ET.
