The Cleveland Guardians moved to 23-21 on the season with a 3-2 victory over the Los Angeles Angels in the second game of their series. They had also taken the opener on Monday.
Cleveland is still firmly at the top of the AL Central and remains the only team in the division with a record of .500 or better. The team has bounced back nicely after dropping the last two games of the weekend against the Minnesota Twins.

The offense only needed four hits and three runs to take home the W, because the pitching staff had a solid game. Starter Slade Cecconi didn’t give the team much length, pitching just four innings, but they were quality, scoreless frames in which he conceded just five hits and a walk, striking out seven. He lowered his ERA to 5.60.
Angel Martinez was responsible for the first run of the game in the third inning, with his sixth home run of the season. He got a 2-2 changeup and belted it deep into the Cleveland night to give his team a 1-0 lead.
Daniel Schneemann led off the bottom of the fifth with a walk and advanced to second on a wild pitch. He moved to third after Jo Adell robbed Martinez of a second homer, and scored on a Patrick Bailey groundout. The game was 2-0 Cleveland.
In the sixth, Adell drove in Oswald Peraza, who had tripled, with a lineout to center. The Guardians would re-establish a two-run cushion in the bottom of the seventh, with Brayan Rocchio hitting a sac fly to plate Petey Halpin.
Guardians manager Stephen Vogt brought in Franco Aleman, who has impressed in his first few days with the team, to take care of the eighth. Vaughn Grissom greeted him with a solo homer that made it a one-run game again, then the righty bounced back to retire the next two hitters. When Aleman walked Josh Lowe, Vogt went with Cade Smith to get the last out of the inning, which he did by striking out Sebastian Rivero.
Smith then solved the ninth without any major issues to secure the win for the home club.
Martinez went 2-for-3 with the homer, an RBI, and a run scored to lead the offense. Rocchio went 1-for-2 with an RBI.
The Guardians will go for the sweep on Wednesday, starting at 1:10, with Parker Messick facing Reid Detmers.
