The Cleveland Guardians have one of the best farm systems in baseball, with a No. 1 draft pick set to make his debut soon, some interesting arms, and other position players of note, such as Ralphy Velazquez and Angel Genao.
Prospects can help an organization like Cleveland patch holes around the roster, or kickstart the offense with an unexpected injection of talent and freshness.
These two prospects could potentially be called up relatively soon, within the next month or two, because the Guardians aren’t exactly stable in the positions they play.
Travis Bazzana
Many people believed Bazzana, the No. 1 pick of the 2024 MLB Draft and one of the top prospects in baseball, would get the call when Gabriel Arias went down with a hamstring strain. It didn’t happen, as Juan Brito was the one chosen by the organization to take over at second base.
Bazzana, however, could be a few weeks away from being promoted to the majors if he can improve his offensive output. As of Tuesday afternoon, the dynamic second baseman is slashing .212/.316/.394 with an 85 wRC+ in eight Triple-A games, adding one stolen base.
While it’s certainly not a disaster, that stat line doesn’t reflect what he is as a ballplayer. Many analysts have identified May as the month in which we are going to see Bazzana in the majors, but he will need to get hot at the plate first.
He already showed last year, with a 136 wRC+ in Double-A and a 138 mark in Triple-A, that he can handle the upper minors.
Cooper Ingle
Guardians starting catcher Bo Naylor is hitting a meager .138 with an 11 wRC+. While it’s still too early to panic, it’s important to note that the younger Naylor was also a below-average offensive performer in 2025 (85 wRC+) and 2024 (74 wRC+).
We wouldn’t say Naylor is a lost cause because he produced excellent results as a minor leaguer and looked incredibly promising in 2023 in the majors, but he has reached a point at which he may not get too many additional opportunities.
If the Guardians decide to move on, they could try Ingle, the organization’s No. 5 prospect per MLB Pipeline. The young catcher already had a 28-game cameo in Columbus last year, posting a 105 wRC+.
Ingle opened the year in Columbus and is hitting an incredible .353 with two home runs and a 223 wRC+. If he keeps up that form for a few more weeks and Naylor keeps struggling, don’t be shocked if the Guardians give Ingle a chance.
