The Cleveland Guardians continue to see history unfold right before their eyes, and this time it came from their longtime star, José Ramírez.
In Saturday’s thrilling 6-5 extra-inning win over the Seattle Mariners, Ramírez delivered a key moment early in the comeback while also cementing his place in franchise history.
Cleveland trailed 2-0 before finally breaking through in the sixth inning. That is when Ramírez stepped up and ripped a clutch double to right field, bringing home a run and igniting the offense. Moments later, the Guardians tied the game, completely shifting the momentum.
But that hit was much more than just a turning point in the game.
It was the 400th double of Ramírez’s career.

With that swing, he became just the third player in franchise history to reach that milestone, joining legends Tris Speaker and Nap Lajoie.
Ramírez’s impact did not stop there. He also came around to score the tying run later in the inning.
Chase DeLauter once again stole headlines with a go ahead two run home run in the 10th inning, continuing his incredible start to the season. Still, Ramírez’s milestone moment earlier in the game set the stage for everything that followed.
For the Guardians, this is exactly what they need.
A mix of veteran leadership and rising young talent is already showing early signs of success. Ramírez continues to deliver in big moments, while players like DeLauter are emerging as potential difference makers.
And for Ramírez, the milestone is likely just another step.
After reaching 400 doubles, he has already set his sights on the next goal, proving that even with everything he has accomplished, he is far from finished.
