MLB teams are required to think about the present, but also about the future.
Sustainability is a trendy concept, and to achieve it, there has to be an eye on the problems and solutions of tomorrow.
That’s why executives, media, and fans alike are all attentive to what happens with this year’s contingent of unsigned free agents (Blake Snell, J.D. Martinez, Cody Bellinger, Jordan Montgomery, and more), but also have an eye on what the market could look like in the next offseason.
In that regard, Cleveland Guardians ace Shane Bieber is part of an incredibly talented class of free agents after the 2024 World Series.

Bieber, who recently went to Driveline to improve and optimize his delivery, is one of the best pitchers available for money next year.
So is Zack Wheeler, Corbin Burnes, Max Fried, and Walker Buehler.
Next year’s class presents lots of arms for pitching-starved teams in baseball.
The Guardians don’t really have that problem, but they do need offense especially if some of their young guns like Johnathan Rodriguez, Chase DeLauter, Tyler Freeman, Brayan Rocchio, Gabriel Arias and more don’t develop as expected.
Juan Soto, Alex Bregman, Paul Goldschmidt, and Pete Alonso provide teams with many choices when it comes to offensive production: there are power guys, on-base machines, contact magicians, and even some lottery tickets.
If things were interesting in 2023-24, the 2024-25 free agency class apparently has at least as much talent.
