Jose Ramirez reminded everyone why he remains the heartbeat of the Cleveland Guardians on Monday.
In a 9-5 spring training win over the Arizona Diamondbacks, Ramirez delivered a big swing that helped power Cleveland’s offense. The All-Star third baseman launched his first home run of the spring, a 386-foot three-run shot to right field in the fifth inning. The ball jumped off his bat at 105.7 miles per hour and quickly gave the Guardians breathing room.
“Cleveland #Guardians (3B) Jose Ramirez blasts his 1st HR of the spring a 386 foot 3-run shot to right field in the 5th inning vs the D-Backs 105.7 mph off the bat,” Guardians Perspective wrote.

It was a vintage Ramirez moment.
Ramirez finished the game with two hits and four runs batted in, providing the bulk of the damage in Cleveland’s nine-run performance. While spring training results do not count in the standings, seeing Ramirez locked in at the plate is an encouraging sign as the regular season approaches.
The Guardians offense showed balance throughout the afternoon. Steven Kwan collected a hit, while Chase DeLauter also chipped in offensively. Bo Naylor added two hits, and Jonathan Rodriguez reached base and scored.

On the mound, Tanner Bibee got the start and worked two scoreless innings, allowing just one hit while striking out a batter. He looked composed and efficient in his outing, setting the tone early. The bullpen followed with solid work from Matt Festa, Tim Herrin, and Kolby Allard, helping preserve the lead despite a late push from Arizona.
Ramirez’s home run was the clear highlight, though. After signing a long-term extension to remain in Cleveland, he continues to show why the organization values him so highly. His ability to change a game with one swing and deliver in key moments remains unmatched on the roster.
For a team focused on improving its offense after an inconsistent showing last year, having Ramirez in midseason form this early is a positive development. If he continues to drive the ball with authority, the Guardians lineup could look much more dangerous when games begin to count.
Monday’s performance was another reminder that when Ramirez is producing, Cleveland tends to follow.
