Cleveland Guardians prospect Jacob Cozart has something to celebrate off the field.
The young catcher recently announced his engagement, and the news quickly made the rounds among Guardians fans and prospect followers. A photo shared on social media captured the special moment, with Cozart down on one knee along the water as he proposed.

While much of the focus around Cozart has been on his development behind the plate, this announcement highlights a milestone in his personal life as he continues his professional journey.
Cozart was drafted by the Guardians in the second round of the 2024 MLB Draft out of North Carolina State. Since entering the organization, he has steadily worked his way through the minor league system, earning recognition along the way. In 2025, he was named a Midwest League postseason All-Star while playing with the Lake County Captains, a sign that his development is trending in the right direction.
The catcher position is one of the most demanding in baseball. It requires leadership, durability, game planning, and the ability to manage an entire pitching staff. For a young player navigating that responsibility while climbing the minor league ladder, maintaining balance off the field can be just as important as progress on it.
Cozart also received a non-roster invitation to major league spring training earlier this year, another indication that the organization values his growth. While he is still working toward his big league debut, he remains firmly on the Guardians’ radar as a potential future contributor.
Guardians fans have watched several young prospects take steps forward in recent years, and Cozart is part of that next wave. As he continues developing his game, he now does so with even more reason to smile.
Congratulations are certainly in order for Cozart and his fiancée as they begin this next chapter together.
