The Cleveland Guardians are still making moves in the offseason.
Granted, they are probably not the moves that fans would prefer at this point (offensive players), but it’s still a signing nonetheless.
They are bringing back an old friend: right-handed pitcher Carlos Carrasco.
It will be on a minor league pact, with an invitation to spring training.
Carrasco was awful for the New York Mets in 2023, with a 6.80 ERA in 90 innings pitched.
Still, he is so determined to prove to the world that he still belongs at the highest level that he has been going to Driveline to improve his pitches and get to the season in top shape.
A healthy and motivated Carrasco is a good signing for the Guardians, especially when there is absolutely no risk because it’s a minor league contract.

You can see in the comments that a lot of Guardians fans are just eager for the organization to bring in some talented hitters:

In reality, that’s what they need: the Guards were last in home runs last season and can really use a power-hitting outfielder.
Still, it’s hard to blame them for bringing back Carrasco on a cheap minors deal to shore up their depth.
There is still some time for the Guardians to sign or trade for an impact hitter.
There were lots of calls for Jorge Soler, and he remains a free agent.
For now, fans will have to settle for Carrasco.
It might seem boring, but it could prove to be a shrewd move.
