The Cleveland Guardians have long relied on their productive farm system to keep them among the playoff contenders in the American League. They will likely turn to some prospects for important roles this season as well.
Without the deep pockets of some of their rivals, finding talent to develop over time is a key component of the organization. Now, one of those teenagers is emerging as a potential star.
Young slugger Juneiker Caceres could be the Guardians’ next breakout prospect.
“Juneiker Caceres is a Guardians prospect to keep tabs on. He has an enviable hit/power combo and slashed .270/.379/.410 in 70 games between the Arizona Complex League and Low-A. And he doesn’t turn 19 until August,” Baseball America posted on X.

The outfielder joined the Cleveland organization as a 16-year-old on the 2024 International Signing Day. The Venezuela native trained at the Pablo Sandoval 48 Academy, which is named for the popular former MLB third baseman.
Entering this season, Caceres is ranked as Cleveland’s No. 13 overall prospect by MLB.com. He is the youngest among the top 20 and is projected to make his MLB debut in 2029. He has just four home runs and a slugging percentage of .444 in his pro career to date, but his physical development over the next few years should add power to his left-handed swing.
Though Guardians fans will have to wait a while for him, there are plenty of other emerging young players to keep an eye on this season. Rookie outfielders George Valera and Chase Delauter, and second baseman Travis Bazzana, are predicted to be in the Opening Day lineup, along with designated hitter C.J. Kayfus.
They will be expected to add some punch to an offense that ranked among the worst in the majors last season. The Guardians have not made any significant offseason additions to bolster their attack, and could lose Steven Kwan if trade rumors surrounding the outfielder become a reality, so internal improvement will be crucial to their hopes in 2026.
Cleveland was able to overcome that deficiency with a strong starting rotation and competent bullpen last season, but without an increase in runs scored, it will be difficult to claim the AL Central title for a third straight year.
