The Cleveland Guardians have everything they need to be a competitive team for many more years to come. However, that doesn’t mean that they’re done adding talent.
If anything, this team should continue to be in the mix for more prospects, knowing that they’re not likely to get many star players in free agency. With that in mind, they will keep an eye on the Caribbean and South American regions to find and develop some diamonds in the rough. Notably, that’s certainly the case with shortstop prospect Nishant Toledo.
According to Guardians Prospective, they’re currently leading the race to sign him.
“Cleveland Guardians are favorites to sign (SS) prospect Nishant Toledo out of Santa Cruz, Aruba. Toledo trains at both Fortuna Training Facility and with Aruba Baseball Academy. He is not eligible to sign until the 1/15/29 International signing day,” Guardians Prospective posted on X.
Toledo is a native of Santa Cruz, Aruba. He’s currently training at both Aruba Baseball Academy and Fortuna Training Facility. However, just like with other players his age, he’s not going to be eligible to sign his deal until the 1/15/29 International signing day.
Of course, that means that this team still has plenty of scouting to do with him. A lot can go wrong in that much time, and he’ll also have to continue putting in the work to fulfill his destiny. The Guardians have always taken pride in finding and developing talented middle infielders, so it’s easy to understand why a player like Toledo would choose this organization among the many others that might be interested in his services.
Then again, a lot can impact a player’s career and development, and the fans can’t get too carried away with this news until he actually puts pen to paper.
