The Cleveland Guardians have been very patient with Daniel Espino. Finally, it seems like all the hard work and time are about to pay off.
The young pitching prospect had to go through a lot to get to this point, and it’s nice to see him back at full strength. As shown by Guardians Prospective on X, the 24-year-old is back in his native Panama, and he’s crushing it in the gym.
“Cleveland Guardians 24-year-old RHP prospect Daniel Espino putting in work back in Panama getting ready for MLB spring training. Espino recently pitched in the Arizona Fall League, striking out seven batters over 4.2 scoreless innings of work over four outings. He topped out at 100.2 mph in the AFL,” Guardians Prospective wrote.
Given his long history of injuries, the Guardians chose to err on the side of caution with Espino, and rightfully so. That’s why they limited his workload in the AFL and allowed him to keep working on his recovery.
Espino has all the talent in the world, and while his multiple ailments have delayed his promising career, they haven’t derailed it. He’s back on track to reach the majors at some point in the near future, maybe even as soon as next season.
The Guardians could use a player of his caliber for their bullpen. If he continues to put in the work and, more importantly, stays healthy, it wouldn’t be much of a surprise to see him make his MLB debut in 2026.
