Bleacher Report’s Joel Reuter recently projected a possible rotation anchored by Gavin Williams, with Tanner Bibee and Logan Allen providing additional depth. Slade Cecconi and Parker Messick would round out the group as the fourth and fifth starters, respectively.
“Given their ability to develop pitching talent and perennial unwillingness to spend money, it’s fair to assume the Guardians will opt to go in-house to build their 2026 rotation, unless someone is acquired via trade. Parker Messick and Joey Cantillo both pitched well at times as rookies, though the latter has stuff that plays better out of the bullpen, so the former gets the nod for the No. 5 starter job in this first round of predictions,” Reuter wrote.
Williams has emerged as the rotation’s centerpiece after finishing 2025 with a 3.26 ERA and 173 strikeouts, displaying command-oriented stuff that resembles ace-level potential.
Bibee has already established himself in the frontline, earning his extension with 12 wins while ranking inside the AL’s top ten in that category. His consistency provides the rotation with a reliable foundation.
Allen contributes a necessary left-handed element, posting a 4.25 ERA across more than 156 innings while generating sufficient velocity to continue climbing. His profile offers both stability and potential trade value depending on roster construction.
Cecconi delivered durability throughout 2025, compiling a 7-7 record with a 4.30 ERA and surpassing 100 strikeouts as he continues developing under Cleveland’s coaching staff.
Messick represents the organization’s commitment to internal development. The rookie posted a 2.72 ERA in nearly 40 innings, earning recognition for both competitiveness and upside.
