A few Cleveland Guardians players allegedly starred in one of the most infamous and bizarre scandals in recent MLB history.
Luis L. Ortiz and Emmanuel Clase were both placed on paid administrative leave over their alleged participation in a sports betting scheme.
The investigation has been going on for a while now, and according to Guardians Prospective, there could be a decision pretty soon:
“Look for a decision from MLB on both Cleveland Guardians pitchers Emmanuel Clase and Luis Ortiz to be announced fairly soon I’m told. Teams have to start making 40-man roster decisions before the November 18th deadline,” per Guardians Prospective.

It doesn’t sound like either of these players is going to take the mound in Major League Baseball again.
They were banned from playing winter ball while this situation gets cleared, and while they need to be considered innocent until proven guilty, things don’t look good.
Even if they were to be cleared to return at some point after serving a suspension, it’s hard to believe the team would want to have anything to do with either of them, and we’re not just talking about the front office.
If they’re found guilty, it will be impossible for their teammates to trust them again, so this might be the end of the line for both of them in Cleveland.
Fortunately, the team rallied together and found ways to get by without them.
Stephen Vogt has more than enough resources in the starting rotation, and Cade Smith took a huge leap forward to show that he has what it takes to be the closer this team needs for many more years to come.
