The Cleveland Guardians need to figure out what to do with their roster this offseason.
Though they’re not that far off from being a legitimate World Series contender, the franchise seems to be reluctant to spend.
With that in mind, analyst Bruce Drennan shared his thoughts on potential courses of action.
“The front office must decide on three options: Stand pat and hope these kids blossom; trade one or more, or some of the talented young prospects, for a proven bat; or sign a free agent,” Drennan said.

Judging by history, the most likely scenario will be to hold on to the young players and hope they turn out to be stars.
The Guardians have rarely traded their best prospects, and their reluctance to drive up the payroll is an organizational trait.
C.J. Kayfus, Chase DeLauter and George Valera are elite prospects who could become dominant hitters for years to come.
The Guardians will try to make sure that’s the case, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with giving them as many opportunities to develop and succeed as they possibly can.
That being said, they’re young players first and foremost, and not many rookie-filled teams have won the World Series.
Jose Ramirez is still in his prime, and as such, he needs a supporting cast that can help him get there.
The Guardians need to find some balance if they truly want to set up their youngsters for success while also staying in contention for the playoffs.
