The Cleveland Guardians have already beaten the odds this season.
Not many people expected them to make the playoffs, let alone win the AL Central.
Losing key players in the offseason and going through multiple losing streaks made it seem like they simply didn’t have enough to get it done.
Nevertheless, the fan base never wavered.
Even when things were tough, they stayed by the team’s side.
That’s why, now that Progressive Field will host the visiting Detroit Tigers for Game 1 of the AL Wild Card series, Guardians starter Gavin Williams wanted to thank and praise them for their support.
“Having all the fans out there, I was turning my PitchCom up to 20 and could barely hear it. This past month has been unbelievable having the fans here,” Williams said.

The fans were instrumental in keeping the team focused and motivated.
They were also a major factor during the final weeks of the regular season, helping the Guardians secure the wins they desperately needed to achieve their goal.
This shouldn’t be the end of the line, and hopefully, Progressive Field will be the site of many more playoff games this year.
The Guardians will need the fans to be at their best to give them an edge over the rival Tigers, who will send a legitimate ace in Tarik Skubal to the mound in the opener.
Fortunately, the Guardians can be confident that their fans will pack the stadium, especially given what’s at stake.
