It didn’t take long before former Cleveland Guardians veteran Carlos Santana found himself a new home.
He’s now heading to the National League.
According to Jon Heyman of the MLB Network, Santana will sign a deal with the Chicago Cubs for the final stretch of the campaign.

The Guardians placed Santana on outright waivers earlier in the week ahead of September’s roster expansion.
He had agreed to return to Cleveland for his third stint with the organization, replacing Josh Naylor after he was sent to the Arizona Diamondbacks.
However, he failed to find much success at the plate this season.
He slashed .225/.316/.333. with 52 RBI and 11 home runs in 455 plate appearances.
He hasn’t showcased his usual power and offensive power, and his exit velocity has also taken a hit, which is normal, given his age.
That, plus the addition of star prospect C.J. Kayfus and Kyle Manzardo’s surge, made this an easy decision for the Guardians.
Santana, however, is still an elite defensive player, and he has extensive experience in the playoffs.
He’s always been the type of player who’s usually at his best late in the season.
The Cubs have a two-game lead over the San Diego Padres in the race for the top spot in the National League wild-card race, and knowing that he’s inching closer to the end of his playing days, he will welcome the possibility to go out with a bang and a World Series ring.
As for the Guardians, they needed to give the younger players a chance.
