The Cleveland Guardians have a new manager in town.
Stephen Vogt, who spent this past season as a coach with the Seattle Mariners, will be the man tasked with replacing Terry Francona, who managed the Guards for the last 11 years.
He will be the 45th manager in franchise history.
Vogt doesn’t have experience as a skipper, having retired in 2022.
He was the M’s bullpen and quality control coach last year.
However, what Vogt lacks in experience, he makes it up for in people skills, communication, and baseball knowledge.
He is also very empathetic.
He knows that his job as a manager of the Guards goes beyond what he says and does in the dugout or clubhouse.
Right now, he is one of Cleveland’s sports ambassadors.

The team said Vogt is “experiencing Cleveland the right way,” enjoying a basketball game and saluting baseball fans at the same time.
He seems to have all, or most of the tools to be a successful MLB manager with the Guardians.
He is highly respected around the league, and many fans love the whole “underdog” style he projects.
As long as he learns how to translate his considerable baseball knowledge and excellent communication skills to his players and making sure his message gets to them, the Guardians could potentially return to playoff contention in 2024.
Next season will be a big test for Vogt, but life has prepared him for his current role.
