The Cleveland Guardians are keeping a close eye on their best prospect.
Travis Bazzana was finally promoted to Triple-A Columbus, and it didn’t take long before he recorded his first hit.
As shown by Guardians Prospective on X, the former No. 1 finally got a hit in his second game with the Clippers.

He went 0-for-2 with three walks and one run scored in his debut, and he went 1-for-5 with one hit and three strikeouts in his second outing.
Bazzana earned a promotion after slashing .265/.367/.412 in his final 18 games with the Akron RubberDucks, including seven doubles, six RBIs, 10 walks, 16 strikeouts, and one home run.
He missed almost two months with a right oblique injury, and that may have cost him a chance to get called up for the majors this season.
While he’s clearly trending in the right direction and was initially projected to make his way to the show this season, the Guardians are already set at second baseman with Brayan Rocchio there.
Rocchio has been solid since being called back up, and with the Guardians right back in the playoff picture, they might not be able to afford taking things slowly with their prized prospect.
Of course, there’s no need to rush anything with Bazzana, either.
He’s benefitted from the extended run in the minors, significantly lowering his strikeout rate from 27.6 in April all the way to 17.5 in July.
The Guardians have more than enough talent to get by in the meantime, and hopefully, we’ll get to see Bazzana in the majors next season.
