The Cleveland Guardians have the best record in baseball this month.
They’ve won seven of their nine games, and they’ve been the best team in MLB since July 7.
However, Steven Kwan hasn’t necessarily been his usual self during that span.
“Why is no one talking about how rough Steven Kwan has been offensively. He has an 83 wRC+ since June 1st,” he wrote. “He has got to be better.”

Even so, it would be tough and unfair to criticize a player like Kwan.
Yes, expectations are high for a player of his caliber, but he did a lot of heavy lifting in the first half of the season.
More than that, he continues to play stellar defense and be a leader in the clubhouse.
If anything, the fact that this team has been able to dominate this way despite having their second-best player struggling at the plate should only be an encouraging sign with the playoffs in sight.
The Guardians have climbed their way back to postseason contention.
They’re now just half a game behind the New York Yankees for the final AL Wild Card spot.
Nevertheless, they might not even need to think about the Wild Card.
The Detroit Tigers have fallen back to Earth, all while the Guardians continue to play their best baseball of the season when it matters the most.
They’ve narrowed the gap between them, and they have a legitimate chance to make the playoffs as divisional champions instead of a Wild Card team.
Hopefully, Kwan will get out of this slump soon enough to give them a helping hand in that regard.
