The Cleveland Guardians are the best team in all of baseball right now.
They’ve won seven of their eight games in August, and that includes five games in a row.
However, as good as they’ve been, their two best players haven’t been up to their usual standard during the winning streak.
As shown by ClevelandDTR on X, Jose Ramirez and Steven Kwan have been ice-cold in the last five games.
Ramirez has gone just 2-for-20, whereas Kwan is 6-for-23 with one extra-base hit.

Some would be concerned by those numbers, but they might actually be a blessing in disguise.
For starters, they’re clearly not going to be this bad for much longer.
On the other hand, this has also opened up the door for everybody else to step up, get their confidence up, and do their part to lead this team to where it needs to be.
Kwan and Ramirez have been bailing this team out for most of the season, and it was about time everybody else found their rhythm and did their jobs.
The Guardians are climbing their way up in the standings, and they’re on the right path to secure the final wild card spot in the American League.
That’s despite their two best hitters going cold and not having the best closer in the game, so one can only imagine how good this team can actually be when Kwan and Ramirez get back to their usual level.
