The Cleveland Guardians have finally added a much-needed reinforcement.
C.J. Kayfus, the organization’s No. 4 prospect, finally made his highly anticipated major league debut.
The Florida native was in the lineup when the Guardians hosted the Minnesota Twins at Progressive Field on Saturday.
And as shown by Tim Stebbins on X, it didn’t take long before he made his presence felt.
He recorded an RBI groundout on his very first plate appearance, and he got a standing ovation right after it.

While primarily a first baseman, Kayfus got the nod at right field, a position of big need for Stephen Vogt’s team.
Kayfus has had an outstanding year this season.
He dominated at Double-A Akron with a .364 batting average and a 1.066 OPS in 18 games before being promoted to Triple-A Columbus in late April.
He kept his foot on the gas at Columbus, hitting .283 with a .893 OPS, 43 RBI, 13 home runs, and 14 doubles in 68 games for the Clippers.
It was about time the Guardians gave him a chance to prove his worth in the majors, especially with other prospects struggling with injuries.
Chase DeLauter is a long shot to get called up this year, and the same goes for Travis Bazzana.
But even though Kayfus hasn’t drawn as much buzz as both of them, he might be their best prospect right now.
At the time of his call-up, Kayfus led all players in the franchise’s farm system in slugging percentage (.539), OPS (.929), hits (95), triples (8), and total bases (171), and it’ll be interesting to see what he can do in the majors.
