It’s tough to get a gauge on what the Cleveland Guardians will be doing as MLB’s trade deadline approaches, as a recent 10-game losing streak had fans and media members agreeing it was time to sell, but now that the team has bounced back to win 11 out of 14 since then to get back to .500, suddenly those trade rumors have taken on a different tone.
Cleveland is back in the mix due to an easy schedule and suddenly can see a path back to contention, which is certainly one of the reasons why one analyst believes trading one veteran is a “bad idea.”
Daryl Ruiter of 92.3 The Fan posted on X that he is vehemently against the idea of trading two-time All-Star Steven Kwan at the deadline.
“The thought of trading Steven Kwan is a very very very BAD idea.”

Kwan missed a few games due to a wrist injury, but has returned with a bang, mashing a pair of homers on Thursday, though the Guardians fell short to the Baltimore Orioles 4-3 to slip back to .500 at 51-51.
Kwan and Jose Ramirez have been the only two consistent driving forces for what has been a lackluster offense in 2025, which has clearly held the team back from reaching the heights it reached last year.
The Guardians have a lot of easy matchups on the schedule, so now would be a great time for the offense to get cooking and further quiet those trade rumors ahead of the deadline.
Trading Kwan was a bad idea regardless of how the team was doing, as it’s a tough sell to this fanbase to trade one of the only two hitters who are pulling their weight.
