The Cleveland Guardians have one of the most sought-after players in baseball.
However, they also have bad news for everybody else.
According to MLB insider Buster Olney, the chances of Cleveland trading Steven Kwan before the upcoming deadline are slim.
“The player asked about the most on the Guardians’ roster is Steven Kwan, but given that he’s 2 1/2 years away from free agency, it’s unlikely he’ll be traded, according to sources. His slash line this year: .288/.352/.398, with 11 SB,” Olney wrote on X.

There have been some rumors about Kwan’s potential availability.
That’s because the Guardians reportedly are trying to get him to sign a contract extension, but he has not.
Nevertheless, as Olney pointed out, he’s not going to be a free agent for years, so they shouldn’t be in a rush to get a deal done.
Of course, perhaps the Guardians could reconsider their stance if someone showed up with a big trade offer.
Kwan is not only one of the best defensive outfielders in the game, he’s also a leader on and off the field and a fan favorite.
The Guardians are still in the race for an AL Wild Card, and that would likely go to waste if they traded Kwan, who has been the lone bright spot in their lineup other than Jose Ramirez.
The Guardians need to close out the season strong, and they have an easy schedule.
So, teams hoping they would move on from Kwan should set their sights somewhere else.
