The Cleveland Guardians are in need of an offensive spark.
They won’t spend to sign prominent free agents, and they’re not going to give up prospects to land a star in a trade.
So, perhaps the answer to their prayers is right there in front of them.
As shown by Guardians Prospective on X, shortstop prospect Jose Devers has been dominating in the minors.
He hit his 24th double of the season for High-A Lake County.
He’s now tied with C.J. Kayfus for the most extra-base hits in the team’s farm system this season (38).

The Guardians expected Travis Bazzana and/or Chase DeLauter to make their major league debut in 2025, but injuries may have delayed those plans.
In the meantime, Kayfus has been dominating and climbing his way up the ladder, up to the point where he’s made a strong case for being the first big-name prospect to get the nod this season.
Kayfus could give the Guardians some much-needed power in the middle of the lineup and another strong bat in the outfield, two issues that have held the offense back all year long.
He shouldn’t be expected to be the savior, but even if he needs some time to make adjustments, there’s not much to lose by giving him a chance.
Devers, on the other hand, still has a long way to go, but he’s trending in the right direction.
