Jose Ramirez has been the foundation of this Cleveland Guardians team for the past decade, and even at 32 years old and in his 13th season in MLB, he continues to find ways to improve his game.
He is in the midst of another All-Star campaign, and on Saturday in an 8-2 loss to the Athletics, Ramirez set a new franchise record for the Guardians.
When Ramirez hit a third-inning two-run homer to give Cleveland a 2-0 lead on Saturday, it marked the eighth consecutive game the Guardians hit a go-ahead home run, breaking a record of seven games set in September of 1970.
Now a franchise record of 8 straight games with a go-ahead home run, thanks to, you guessed it, Jose Ramirez. #GuardsBall | #Guardians https://t.co/tQp6zSg1YO

Ramirez sat out the All-Star Game in order to rest a nagging ankle injury that has been bothering him for months, so it was nice to see him come out of the break with a couple of strong performances.
The superstar just continues to pile up accolades and statistics and is building a more undeniable Hall of Fame case by the day, and it’s unfortunate the rest of the lineup around him hasn’t been able to pull their weight.
Cleveland has had one of the worst offenses in baseball despite Ramirez having yet another stellar campaign, and unfortunately, his latest home run represented the only two runs in a losing effort.
The Guardians have been turning things around of late, and hopefully, they can bounce back on Sunday to take the series with the A’s and get the second half started on the right note.
Cleveland has one of the easiest schedules in baseball the rest of the way, but dropping a series to the lowly A’s would not be a great sign of things to come.
