After a two-month absence due to a high-grade oblique strain, Travis Bazzana has returned to action and is already making his presence felt.
The Cleveland Guardians’ top prospect made his comeback with Double-A Akron RubberDucks on July 18, immediately showing why he remains the organization’s most prized asset.
The 22-year-old second baseman wasted no time making an impact in his first game back, collecting two hits and displaying no signs of rust from his extended layoff.
His return comes after being sidelined since May 14, when discomfort following a fourth-inning double forced him to the injured list.

Bazzana’s rehabilitation process went smoothly through the Arizona Complex League, where he completed a full nine-inning defensive showcase that cleared his path back to Akron.
The successful rehab stint demonstrated his readiness to rejoin upper-level competition after months of careful recovery.
Before his injury setback, Bazzana was performing well for a player adjusting to Double-A competition.
Over 33 games, he posted a .252/.362/.433 slash line with four home runs, 17 RBIs, and eight stolen bases.
Those numbers reflected solid production from someone still learning the nuances of upper-minors pitching.
Now healthy and back on the field, the spotlight returns to the 2024 No. 1 overall draft pick.
MLB Pipeline ranks him as the ninth-best prospect in baseball, recognizing his elite contact skills, quick defensive actions, and compact left-handed swing that generates impressive exit velocity.
With Andrés Giménez now traded to Toronto, second base sits wide open in Cleveland’s future plans.
Bazzana’s timely return positions him perfectly for a potential late-season promotion to Triple-A Columbus if his production continues at this level.
